Lena Bridge in Yakutia Reaches Milestone as First Support Structure Completed
Construction of the Lena Bridge in Yakutia is underway, with the first support structure now complete. However, the project's timeline has been impacted by various factors, including funding delays and weather conditions.
The Lena Bridge, a significant infrastructure project, has reached a crucial milestone with the completion of its first watch structure. Sergei Romashov, CEO of VIS Group, attended the ceremonial unveiling of this structure during his visit to Yakutia.
Work on the bridge is progressing, with 114 out of the required 920 bored piles already completed. The pace is steady, with two more piles added every three days. Currently, three drilling rigs are operational on the right bank, carrying out winter work that includes drilling and bored-pile installation.
Despite these advancements, the project has faced setbacks. The launch of the cofferdam was postponed from spring to summer and later deferred due to silt obstruction. Clearing this obstruction would have required dredging work costing 500 million rubles, leading to the operation's deferral to spring 2026.
The main construction work was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, but Sergei Kozlovsky, head of communication at VIS Group, has revised this estimate to late 2028, provided federal funding arrives ahead of schedule. If financing sticks to the original timeline, the bridge's commissioning may shift to 2029.
The Lena Bridge project continues, with the first watch structure now in place and bored-pile installation ongoing. Despite challenges, the project is expected to be completed in three years, allowing trucks and cars to cross. However, the final commissioning date remains uncertain due to funding and weather-related delays.
