Kuwait Revokes Nationalities in Major Fraud Crackdown

Kuwait's Supreme Committee has taken decisive action, revoking nationalities in several cases due to fraud, false statements, and the higher interests of the state. The investigations serve as a stark reminder that forgery will eventually be uncovered, safeguarding Kuwait's national identity.

The committee has uncovered intricate cases of deception spanning generations. In one instance, a Kuwaiti citizen registered in 1993 was later found to have no biological relation to the individuals listed as his family. This case, along with others, involved complex family trees built on false claims.

Two Syrian brothers claimed descent from different Kuwaiti citizens, implicating 52 people. One Kuwaiti citizen was found to have registered 41 individuals, but only 14 were biologically his children. The remaining 27 names are under investigation, with 204 fraudulent affiliations exposed. An Iraqi also fraudulently obtained Kuwaiti nationality in the 1970s, leading to around 35 individuals across two generations losing their Kuwaiti nationality.

The investigative process relies on hotline tips, field inquiries, and DNA testing to expose these deceptions. A key figure, Ayed, was inserted into the Kuwaiti citizenship registry in 1993 with a different Gulf nationality and was not biologically related to his claimed siblings. His true identity and the nationalities of some of his alleged 'children' were uncovered.

The Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation is tackling these complex cases of dual nationality and forgery. The revocations serve as a strong deterrent, reinforcing Kuwait's commitment to protecting its national identity and upholding the integrity of its citizenship registry.
