Krasnodar's 2.5B ruble push to dominate Russia's fruit production by 2030
Krasnodar Territory is set to expand its fruit production with a major government investment. Over 2.5 billion rubles will modernise orchards and create new plantations across the region. The move aims to strengthen its position as Russia's top agricultural hub.
By 2030, local fruit output is expected to hit 800,000 tons, raising Krasnodar's share of the national market to 30%. The region already leads in fruit and berry production, harvesting over half a million tons each year. Apples make up around 70% of this total. Beyond fruit, Krasnodar dominates in grain, dairy, meat, tea, and wine production.
Greenhouse farming has also seen rapid growth. In the past decade, output of protected-ground vegetables has more than doubled, reaching over 110,000 tons annually. Tomatoes account for 70% of this volume. Government funding has helped increase greenhouse yields by an average of 20%.
To further boost value, Krasnodar is expanding deep processing of agricultural products. This strategy aims to maximise returns from its diverse farming sectors. The latest funding will support both orchard upgrades and new plantations. With these changes, Krasnodar is on track to meet its 2030 fruit production target. The region's focus on processing and high-value crops is expected to strengthen its economic role in Russian agriculture.
