Koblenz's Richest: Gotthardt Family Tops Local List With €800M
The 2023 list of Germany's richest entrepreneurs has revealed the wealthiest families from the Koblenz region. The Gotthardt family, behind Compugroup Medical, tops the local list with an estimated fortune of €800 million. Nationally, they rank 303rd.
The Wirtgen family from Windhagen is the second-richest in the region, with an estimated wealth of €4 billion. This places them 59th nationwide. Ralph Dommermuth, CEO of United Internet and based in Montabaur, has a fortune of €3.2 billion, ranking 83rd. The Horn and Litke families, owners of Niedax in Linz am Rhein, have a combined wealth of €500 million, placing them 436th nationwide. Alexander and Christian Birkenstock, formerly of Birkenstock in Neustadt an der Wied, have a combined wealth of €2.5 billion, ranking 101st. The Schutz family from Selters has an estimated fortune of €2.3 billion, ranking 112th.
Nationally, BMW heirs Susanne Klatten and Stefan Quandt rank second with a combined wealth of €36.1 billion. Dieter Schwarz, founder of Lidl, is Germany's wealthiest entrepreneur with €46.5 billion. The Albrecht and Heister families (Aldi Süd) rank third with a combined wealth of €27.7 billion.
The Koblenz region is home to several ultra-wealthy families, with the Gotthardt family leading the way locally. Nationally, these families rank among the top 500 richest entrepreneurs in Germany, contributing significantly to the region's economic landscape.
