Klingel's fashion label, "Miamoda," has been put up for sale
The Miamoda brand, known for its plus-size fashion offerings, has been unanimously sold to the Popken Fashion Group. This acquisition, approved by the self-administration bodies and creditors' committee, marks a significant step for both parties.
The Popken Fashion Group, an internationally operating, family-run fashion company headquartered in Rastede, Lower Saxony, has a portfolio that includes Ulla Popken, Laurasøn, Studio Untold, and JP1880. The sale includes customer addresses and inventory of the Miamoda brand, allowing the brand to leverage Popken's extensive resources in design, distribution, and marketing.
The Miamoda brand, previously owned by the KLiNGEL group and marketed as "fashion for larger sizes", will undergo strategic integration into Popken's portfolio. The current status involves maintaining Miamoda's identity while benefiting from Popken’s resources.
Future plans for Miamoda include expanding its market presence by enhancing product ranges, improving quality and style offerings, and utilizing Popken’s international distribution networks to reach a broader customer base. The aim is to strengthen Miamoda as a leading brand in plus-size fashion under Popken Fashion Group's management, focusing on innovation and customer-centric approaches.
This is not the first acquisition by the Popken Fashion Group from Klingel. Previously, they had already purchased the HAPPYsize brand from Klingel's insolvency estate. The KLiNGEL group, headquartered in Pforzheim, is the parent company of the Miamoda brand.
Under the guidance of Marcus Katholing, the current Klingel manager and insolvency expert for the insolvency administrator Pluta, discussions with the Popken Fashion Group about Miamoda were reportedly positive. As of January 1, 2024, the Miamoda brand will belong to the Popken Fashion Group.
The Popken Fashion Group operates through online shops and its own stores in over 30 countries, providing a strong platform for Miamoda's growth and expansion. Allowing Miamoda to leverage Popken's extensive resources in design, distribution, and marketing will significantly improve its fashion offerings, creating a more attractive lifestyle for its customers. The Popken Fashion Group's acquisition of Miamoda, with its focus on innovation and customer-centric approaches, can also propel its business success in the fashion-and-beauty industry, including its existing brands like Ulla Popken, Laurasøn, Studio Untold, and JP1880.
