Key Figures Push for Uniform Rules in NRW Taxi and Public Transport
Prominent figures from politics and business gathered at the 'unternehmer nrw' parliamentary evening in Düsseldorf. Among the attendees were Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Karl-Josef Laumann, Parliament Vice-President Christof Rasche, 'unternehmer nrw' President Arndt G. Kirchhoff, General Secretary Johannes Pöttering, and around 20 members of parliament from various parties. The event aimed to discuss and address key issues in the taxi and public transport sector.
The associations, including the North Rhine-Westphalia Passenger Transport Association (FPN), the NRW Special Road Passenger Transport Association (VSPV), and the German Taxi and Rental Car Association (TMV), called for a uniform guideline for fair framework conditions at the state level, and eventually at the national level. This is to support municipalities and regions in implementing reliable fare systems.
The main focus of the event was discussions with state secretaries from various ministries. Topics ranged from unfair competition by platform providers like Uber, social dumping, tax evasion, the future of public transport taxis, accessible taxis, providing services in rural areas, fixed prices, and minimum fares in taxi transport, to transferring technology for more efficient systems. Kathrin Köstner, representing the involved associations, led negotiations with political decision-makers to introduce uniform rules. The goal is to establish cheap and fair framework conditions for public local transport in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The 'unternehmer nrw' parliamentary evening brought together key stakeholders to address critical issues in the taxi and public transport sector. The associations and political decision-makers agreed on the need for uniform rules to create fair and affordable public transport systems in North Rhine-Westphalia.
