Kentucky's Summer Subsidy program under LIHEAP, accepting applications from July 28 to September 12
Kentucky households can apply for cooling assistance through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Summer Subsidy from July 28 to September 12. This program, administered by Community Action Kentucky in partnership with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, provides a one-time electric benefit based on the household's housing category and income level.
To find contact information for all local Community Action agencies across Kentucky providing LIHEAP Summer Subsidy assistance, the best approach is to use the centralized resources at www.capky.org or call 800-456-3452.
On the website, you can visit www.capky.org/network to find a directory of all local Community Action Agencies by county. Alternatively, you can call the statewide LIHEAP information line for direct assistance and to obtain local office contact details.
Applicants must bring proof of income, Social Security or immigration status, current electric bill, and related account details when applying at their local agency. In addition to the electric bill, applicants must provide the account number and name on the account for main heating fuel sources, if applicable. All applicants must also supply proof of all household's (all members) income from the preceding month.
Households must meet income eligibility of up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Prior LIHEAP assistance does not affect eligibility for the Summer Subsidy.
The program does not require a disconnect notice, past-due bill, or eviction notice. Benefits from the Summer Subsidy program can be applied as a credit to your account.
