Kazakhstan Welcomes ICAO President, Showcases Aviation Progress

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to the Akorda Presidential Palace in Astana. The visit highlighted Kazakhstan's progress in civil aviation and its commitment to international cooperation.

Kazakhstan's aviation sector has seen significant growth. It now offers direct flights to 29 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and America. This expansion is a result of the country's open skies system, which has facilitated new international flight connections.

The country's infrastructure has also been bolstered with targeted investments. New airports have been opened in Turkistan and Ulytau, while terminals in Almaty, Shymkent, Kostanai, and Kokchetau have been modernized. These improvements have contributed to Kazakhstan's conformity with international ICAO standards, which now stands at 82%, on par with leading aviation nations.

President Tokayev noted the continuous expansion of Kazakhstan's flight network, praising the progress made in civil aviation. Salvatore Sciacchitano, in turn, commended Kazakhstan's adoption of high international standards and expressed his intention to visit Astana again next year.

Kazakhstan's civil aviation sector has made remarkable strides, with a growing flight network and improved infrastructure. The country's commitment to international standards, as recognized by ICAO, positions it as a key player in global aviation. The upcoming visit of Salvatore Sciacchitano further underscores the importance of Kazakhstan's progress and its potential for future cooperation.
