Jaguar Land Rover Restarts Production After Cyber Incident, Sales Plummet 24.2% in Q2
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has suffered a significant blow to its sales and operations due to a cyber security incident that began in early September. The company has confirmed a phased restart of manufacturing operations, beginning on October 8, 2025, at key facilities in the UK. Meanwhile, JLR has introduced a new financing scheme to support its suppliers during the production restart phase.
JLR's wholesales in Q2 FY2026 plummeted by 24.2% to 66,165 units compared to the same period last year, reflecting the impact of the cyber security incident. Retail sales also fell by 17.1% during this period. The incident has led to production stoppages and a 25% drop in volume sales for the three months up to September 30. JLR will report its full financial results for Q2 FY26 in November.
The suspension of operations has severely affected JLR's extended CRM supply chain, resulting in job losses in some supplier companies. To ease cashflow challenges for qualifying suppliers during the production restart phase, JLR has introduced the Supplier Early Payment Programme (SEPP). This scheme allows suppliers to receive payment for their open invoices earlier than usual, against a small discount. The programme is part of JLR's efforts to strengthen its CRM supply chain and support its partners through this challenging period. JLR staff will also return to work on October 8 at key facilities, including stamping operations and the Solihull vehicle production plant.
The cyber security incident has had a significant impact on JLR's sales and operations, with wholesales and retail sales both declining. The company has confirmed a phased restart of manufacturing operations and has introduced a new financing scheme to support its suppliers during this challenging time. JLR's full financial results for Q2 FY26 will be reported in November.
