Title: Kazakhstan Oil Consortium's Legal Avenues Post Drone Attack

Text:

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has decided to take legal action against Ukraine following a drone attack on its oil pump station, as reported by our news source, citing RIA Novosti. However, due to the consortium's lack of direct legal international status, filing a lawsuit directly to an international court isn't an option for the CPC[1][2][3].

CPC Chairman Nikolai Gorban' made this known at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Nevertheless, a legal procedure has been initiated by the consortium to pursue a case[1][2]. The lawsuit covers both direct and indirect losses resulting from the drone attack.

"There's a procedure we have initiated for filing a lawsuit," Gorban' explained, mentioning the prolonged duration of the legal proceedings due to the consortium's lack of prior legal experiences in such matters.

Earlier, Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister commenting on the drone attack on the largest oil pump station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, said, "This is a critical issue for Kazakhstan's economy, and we will address this situation with our Ukrainian partners diplomatically."

Reminder: On February 17, the largest oil pump station of the CPC, "Kropotkinskaya", was attacked by drones.

Controversial Comments:

  • Given the complexities and potential political ramifications, it's understandable that people — both Kazakhstanis and commentators — have strong and varied opinions on Kazakhstan's decision to pursue legal action against Ukraine:

Name: It's ludicrous. It's like losing all decency, morality, and conscience to attack a country that's in flames and sue them for damages.

PSV: We have joint productions with Russia and the West in Kazakhstan. Allowing Ukraine to bomb these without consequence under the pretext of fighting Russian aggression, makes no sense.

Sector-z: We should support our own country, not involve ourselves in conflicts that harm us.

bysaturn: It won't do any good, but you should sue them. It's not as if you haven't the resources to pay for it yourself.

Oleg: It's possible, stop being naive.

-=SS=-: Stop justifying terrorism that harms our country!

pro kazakh: It's unconscionable to attack a plane from Baku.

Alexander: How can you sue a country that doesn't have a legitimate government? Wait for elections, then sue. Otherwise, it won't make any difference.

Nemo: Don't be so talkative when it will make you look foolish.

Nur Nuru: Condemn Ukraine's attacks on our oil infrastructure. Kazakhstan is a neutral country that advocates for peace. We provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine yet such actions against our national interests are outrageous and unacceptable.

Tim: Bravo for speaking out and holding the responsible party accountable! The international community must unite to end the chaos and terrorism brought by the Ukrainian drone attacks.

For the Truth: It is encouraging to see public reaction and condemnation of Ukraine's actions.

  • It's important to note that legal experts differ in their opinions on Kazakhstan's possibility to successfully bring a claim[2]. However, there is a provision in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for justifying terrorism, making condoning Ukraine's actions a punishable offense[2].
