Savings of Up to €948 Annually for Drivers in Spain's Most Expensive Regions

Drivers in Spain could save significant amounts of money by choosing the cheapest petrol stations, according to a study by Facua-Consumers in Action. The study analysed the prices of over 10,000 gas stations across Spain.

In the Region of Murcia, the annual saving for a driver who fills a 50-liter tank twice a month at the cheapest gas station could be as much as €948, compared to refuelling at the most expensive one. This is due to the fact that the difference in price between the cheapest and most expensive gas stations can reach up to 79 cents per liter for diesel and 51 cents for unleaded 95.

Murcia is not the only province with significant price differences. Lleida and Girona have diesel price differences of 76 cents, while Granada has 65 cents. For unleaded 95, the biggest price differences are observed in Granada (62 cents), Barcelona (53 cents), and Murcia (51 cents).

On the other hand, Ceuta and Melilla have the smallest price disparities, around just 2 cents per liter for both diesel and petrol.

The Facua website allows users to see the evolution of gasoline, diesel, and LPG prices, and provides daily average prices throughout Spain. It also has a price comparator to find the most expensive and cheapest gas stations, as well as a historical prices section showing price fluctuations and average prices each day.

As of this Wednesday, the minimum price of unleaded 95 is 0.947 euros per liter, while the maximum is 1.890 euros per liter. The minimum price of diesel A is also 0.947 euros per liter, with a maximum of 1.992 euros per liter. The average price of unleaded 95 is 1.472 euros per liter, while the average price of diesel A is 1.408 euros per liter.

By choosing the cheapest filling station, drivers in some territories can save hundreds of euros a year. The variation in price when filling a 50-liter tank can reach a total of 39.50 euros.

It's worth noting that in the autonomous cities, due to the lack of real competition between gas stations, the annual savings that could be achieved would be 24 euros a year.
