Imminent Hike in Land Ticket Prices Endangers Current Status

The Our Land-Ticket, a popular attraction for millions of visitors, is set to experience a price increase, following a trend observed in the theme park and event industry over the past decade.

The federal government, the initiator of the Our Land-Ticket concept, has announced that costs will exceed 3.6 billion euros from next year. This increase can be attributed to several factors, including inflation, added features, and demand-based pricing strategies.

Over the last decade, ticket prices at major theme parks have seen significant increases, with Disney parks experiencing an average admission price rise of 69% over 10 years. This trend, coupled with the addition of new shows or enhancements and demand-based pricing, influences pricing across the industry.

For instance, Disney's "Jollywood Nights" event ticket prices increased in 2025 for the first time since its debut, now ranging from €159 to €199 per ticket. Such increases often correlate with the addition of new shows or enhancements to the event experience, aiming to justify the higher cost.

The Our Land-Ticket, like many attractions, also adjusts its prices based on demand, with popular periods closer to holidays attracting premium pricing. This dynamic pricing aims to manage demand while maximizing revenue.

The potential price increase for the Our Land-Ticket could result in additional costs of 1.16 to 1.75 euros for consumers. This follows a recent increase from 49 to 58 euros.

Currently, the federal government contributes 1.5 billion euros, while the state governments contribute an equal amount to enable the Our Land-Ticket at the price of 58 euros. However, the federal and state governments are unable to agree on a solution to prevent the price increase, with the federal government insisting on not contributing more to the costs of the Our Land-Ticket.

The number of Our Land-Ticket subscribers has risen to 13.5 million, demonstrating the ticket's popularity despite the price increase. Despite this, the dispute between the federal and state governments is not the only issue causing uncertainty among Our Land-Ticket consumers.

State budgets are reportedly strained, leading to the refusal to cover half of the Our Land-Ticket's costs. This, coupled with the anticipated price increase, means consumers will face increased out-of-pocket expenses not only for admission but often also for related services like parking, food, and extras, which also have risen significantly.

Families and individuals need to budget more carefully for theme park or event visits, potentially limiting attendance frequency or the number of participants. However, for highly anticipated events with limited capacity, early ticket purchases, especially for resort guests or loyal customers, can help secure attendance before prices increase further or events sell out.

Price increases are sometimes accompanied by new offerings or improved experiences, which may help maintain or enhance perceived value for consumers willing to pay more. Consumers should anticipate higher costs and plan accordingly to make the most of their visits.

  1. The federal government's decision to increase the cost of the Our Land-Ticket from next year, citing factors like inflation, added features, and demand-based pricing strategies, is causing concern among consumers in the realm of policy-and-legislation and general-news, as it may lead to additional expenses for visitors.
  2. Politics also play a role in the potential price increase, as the federal and state governments are struggling to reach an agreement on funding the Our Land-Ticket, with the latter refusing to cover half of its costs, leading to anticipated increased out-of-pocket expenses for consumers, not only for admission but for related services as well.
  3. In the context of the theme park and event industry, business strategies such as demand-based pricing, increase in ticket prices, and added features or enhanced experiences have become common practice over the past decade, as observed in major theme parks like Disney, influencing pricing across various sectors of the industry, including the Our Land-Ticket.
