Iloilo City rolls out fuel subsidies for tricycle drivers on March 25

The Iloilo City Government will begin distributing fuel subsidy coupons to tricycle drivers and operators on March 25, 2026. The programme aims to ease financial pressure caused by rising fuel prices linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict. Each eligible driver will receive P500 worth of petroleum products every month. A total of 1,718 tricycle drivers and operators from six districts—Arevalo, Molo, Jaro, La Paz, City Proper, and Mandurriao—will receive coupons in the first batch. After this group, the city will release subsidies for public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers under Batch 1.

To claim the subsidy, beneficiaries must present a valid driver's licence, an ID with three specimen signatures, and an updated official receipt/certificate of registration (OR/CR). Operators managing multiple units can send an authorised representative to collect the coupons for each vehicle. Fuel loading will take place on March 27 and 28, 2026, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. City government staff will be on hand at designated petrol stations to assist beneficiaries with the process.

The subsidy programme targets around 1,200 public transport drivers in its initial phases. By providing monthly fuel support, the city aims to reduce the impact of high fuel costs on local operators. The first distribution will cover six key districts before expanding to other areas.
