IT Service Provider NexG Boosts Secure ID Document Production Capabilities
NexG Berhad, a prominent IT service management company, has announced an substantial investment aimed at bolstering its capacity in the production of secure identity documents. The investment, estimated at approximately RM250 million (around US$59 million), will fund the development of an Industry 4.0-ready manufacturing plant specializing in high-security identity documents.
The construction of this facility is designed to answer the growing international demand for secure ID documents, marking a significant expansion in production capacity and a leap in the precision of manufacturing processes through full automation. The plant will be built in three successive phases, with each phase optimizing and enhancing production capabilities. Upon completion, the facility is projected to produce over 15 million secure ID documents annually per phase, greatly increasing NexG’s output and establishing the company as a major participant in the global market.
The new manufacturing facility will be equipped with advanced security infrastructure to ensure the authenticity and dependability of the ID documents produced. Projected revenue from each phase ranges between US$100 million (RM421 million) and US$200 million (RM843 million), contingent on factors such as document type, country-specific requirements, project extent, and the necessary level of security.
This strategic initiative serves two distinct purposes. On one hand, it aims to extend NexG's business reach, and on the other, it addresses the escalating need for secure, tamper-proof identity documents worldwide. These documents are increasingly significant in ensuring national security, facilitating financial transactions, and enabling seamless international travel.
