IHCL to Launch First Vivanta Hotel In Vellore In Partnership With BBK Group
The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has announced plans to open its first Vivanta hotel in Vellore. The project comes through a partnership with the BBK Group, a well-known family business in the region. Officials highlighted the city’s expanding economy as a key factor behind the decision.
The collaboration between IHCL and the BBK Group was formally revealed in March 2024. BBK Group, led by promoter Narayanasamy Baskaran, operates in leather, footwear, and leather goods. Their involvement marks a shift into hospitality for the family-owned enterprise.
The new Vivanta hotel will occupy a prime location in Vellore’s thriving education and industrial district. Designed with a modern aesthetic, the 100-room property will include an all-day dining restaurant, flexible meeting spaces, and a 2,500 sq ft banquet hall. Suma Venkatesh, IHCL’s Executive Vice-President, pointed to Vellore’s strong growth potential and enhanced transport links as major reasons for the investment. The hotel aims to cater to both business travellers and visitors drawn to the city’s expanding sectors.
The Vivanta hotel will be IHCL’s first in Vellore, strengthening its presence in southern India. The partnership with BBK Group brings together hospitality expertise and local business influence. Construction and opening timelines have yet to be confirmed.
