How This Couple Saved £300K by Living Rent-Free in Strangers’ Homes
Bianca Rappaport, a seasoned house sitter, has explored over 20 countries, including Mexico, Morocco, and Malaysia, during her decade-long journey. She and her husband, Paulo, have saved a substantial amount, £300,000, by living rent-free, thanks to this unique lifestyle.
Bianca's house sitting adventure began in June 2016, after finding sofa surfing too brief for her liking. Since then, she has spent the last 10 years in strangers' homes, providing nursing and pet care in countries like Germany and Portugal. She and Paulo typically stay in a home for at least two months, planning their sits well in advance, usually between three to nine months ahead.
Their house sitting escapades have not only saved them money but also allowed them to enjoy homeowners' amenities, such as gyms, cars, and pools, at no extra cost. This has helped them save an average of £30,000 a year on their business expenses. Bianca believes this practice helps combat over-tourism and fosters a sharing economy.
The couple has visited over 20 countries and five continents through house sitting. Bianca has set up her own online travel business, Wanderwell Club, and aims to retire by 45.
Bianca Rappaport's house sitting journey has taken her around the world, saving her a considerable amount of money and providing unique experiences. With her online travel business, she hopes to retire early and continue exploring the globe.
