Hoermann, a leading manufacturer of outdoor storage systems, has withdrawn its plans for a new plant in the German town of Langebrede. The decision was made due to challenges posed by the high groundwater levels in the area.

The site in question, which spans 24 hectares, has been found to be largely unsuitable for construction due to the high groundwater levels. Approximately half of the site is affected, making it impractical to establish a new plant there.

These groundwater issues have caused delays in marketing the area to potential developers, including Hoermann. The local water authority's decision to reject artificial drainage of the site has further impacted the plans for the area.

Despite these setbacks, Hoermann has not been deterred from expanding its operations. The company has already established an infrastructure and management team in the Polish town of Gromadka, where it has opened a new plant. This facility produces outdoor storage systems, including metal equipment houses and garden boxes.

In addition to the plant in Gromadka, Hoermann also operates a facility in Legnica, which produces steel pipe frames and loading technology.

While Hoermann has abandoned its plans for a plant in Langebrede, another large company was reportedly interested in the area. However, the high groundwater levels have also affected their plans, adding to the challenges faced by potential developers in the region.

Frank Jasper Steinhagen serves as the PR representative for Hoermann. Despite the withdrawal of plans for the Langebrede plant, he remains optimistic about the company's future in Germany. "We are always looking for opportunities to grow and expand our operations," he said. "While the Langebrede site presented some unique challenges, we are confident that we will find another suitable location for our new plant."
