A Tree for Every Baby - Green Action Program - Green Party Pushes Climate Policies Ahead of Rhineland-Palatinate Election
The Green Party in Rhineland-Palatinate has outlined key policies ahead of the March 22 state election. Their plans focus on climate protection, electric mobility, and support for homeowners and tenants. Financial incentives for green heating and charging stations form the core of their campaign.
If elected, the Greens propose an annual €10 million fund to install thousands of public charging stations. Priority would go to rural areas and multi-family housing, though no strict deadlines or exact numbers have been set. The party also aims to make electric mobility more accessible through subsidies for charging points.
Homeowners would receive financial help for heat pumps and connections to district heating networks. Tenants in renovated buildings would benefit from a 'warm rent guarantee', ensuring stable costs during energy-efficient upgrades. Municipalities would be encouraged to expand district heating with additional incentives.
Beyond energy, the Greens plan to invest tens of millions in green heating initiatives. Their environmental education program, the 'Education Tree', would receive €2.5 million yearly. Under this scheme, a tree would be planted on public land for every newborn, marked with a plaque or certificate.
Democracy and youth rights remain central to the party's platform. However, their climate policies depend on securing a role in the next state government.
The Greens' election promises include funding for charging stations, heating upgrades, and tenant protections. If successful, their policies would expand electric mobility and green heating across Rhineland-Palatinate. The outcome hinges on their participation in the government after the vote.
