Göttingen's Green Party Launches District Heating Expansion

Göttingen's Green Party, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, has initiated a project to extend the district heating network at Stegemühlenweg in Südstadt-West. The first phase of this multi-phase construction begins on May 12, 2025, aiming to boost the city's renewable heat supply as part of its Climate Plan.

The road closure will affect the stretch from Schillerstraße to Stargarder Weg. During construction, vehicle access will be unavailable. The project is set to conclude by the end of December 2025, with the goal of enhancing Göttingen's sustainable energy infrastructure.

The Stegemühlenweg district heating network expansion, led by the Green Party, is expected to contribute significantly to Göttingen's climate goals. Upon completion, it will provide a reliable, eco-friendly heat source for the city.
