GoSwap Secures Funding to Expand Morocco's Electric Scooter Battery Network
Moroccan startup GoSwap has secured its first round of funding from the Azur Innovation Fund. The investment will help expand its automated battery-swapping network for electric scooters across the country. Currently, the company operates 20 swap cabinets in Casablanca at CashPlus stores, Petrom, and Shell stations.
GoSwap specialises in quick battery exchanges for electric two-wheelers. Its system allows riders to replace a drained battery with a fully charged one in under 10 seconds. The technology aims to cut costs and extend the range of electric motorcycles, making them more practical for daily use.
The new funding will speed up the rollout of electric mobility in North Africa. GoSwap plans to expand beyond Casablanca, targeting Marrakech and other major Moroccan cities. The investment will also support the addition of new electric motorcycle models compatible with the swapping system. Adnane Filali, managing partner at Azur Innovation Management, highlighted the relevance of GoSwap's solution for Africa's two-wheeler electrification. Hamza Slimani, the startup's founder, emphasised the goal of making electric transport affordable and accessible to everyone.
With fresh funding, GoSwap is set to grow its network across Morocco. The expansion will introduce faster charging options and broader vehicle compatibility. This move could push electric mobility forward in the region.
