GoCardless Achieves First-Ever EBITDA Profit, Opens Leeds Hub
GoCardless, a London-based FinTech company, has reached a significant milestone after 14 years. The direct debit and open banking specialist has achieved its first-ever EBITDA-positive result. To support its growth, the company is opening a new Northern hub in Leeds, creating around 50 roles in its first year.
The financial year 2025 saw GoCardless record a 38% rise in revenue to £127 million and a 55% reduction in losses to £35 million. This strong performance culminated in the company's first EBITDA-positive quarter in the final quarter of the fiscal year. Co-founder and CEO Hiroki Takeuchi attributed this success to the company's strategic scaling over the past 18 months.
GoCardless serves over 100,000 businesses through direct debit, real-time payments, and open banking. The company processes over $130 billion in payments annually across over 30 countries. In June 2025, it launched its first disbursements capability, further expanding its service offerings.
The new Northern hub in Leeds, set to open later this year, will be located at Bruntwood SciTech’s West Village. This expansion follows GoCardless' acquisition of Nuapay and its expansion of the indirect channel proposition.
GoCardless' profitability after 14 years is a testament to its strategic growth and expansion. The opening of the new Northern hub in Leeds signals the company's commitment to further growth and investment in the region. With its first EBITDA-positive result and continued expansion, GoCardless is well-positioned for future success.
