Global Billionaire Count Tops 3,500 as Wealth Hits Record $15.6 Trillion
The number of billionaires worldwide has climbed to over 3,500 by the end of 2024, marking a 5.6% increase. Their combined wealth has also hit a new high, reaching $15.6 trillion after a 10.3% surge in fortunes over the past year.
North America remains the dominant region for billionaire wealth. It holds 34.2% of the world’s billionaires and controls 44% of their total wealth. The United States leads the pack with more than 1,100 billionaires, whose fortunes add up to $5.7 trillion.
The latest figures show billionaire wealth growing faster than ever, with North America and the US maintaining a strong lead. Despite this concentration of riches, the resources needed to tackle global poverty remain significantly lower than the fortunes held by the ultra-wealthy.
