Gießen Boosts Digital Future with Massive Fiber Optic Network Expansion
Gießen is stepping into the future with a significant expansion of its fiber optic network. The city, in collaboration with TNG Stadtnetz GmbH, aims to boost its digital infrastructure, making it more appealing for residents and businesses alike. Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher welcomes this move as a crucial step towards the city's digital evolution.
The expansion, set to benefit around 14,000 households, is part of a broader initiative involving cities like Bayreuth, Hof, and Coburg. TNG and Gießen have signed a joint declaration, committing to a comprehensive, high-performance broadband supply.
Work has already begun in Rödgen, with Kleinlinden next in line. The project aims to connect the districts of Lützellinden, Allendorf, Kleinlinden, Weiskirchen, Rödgen, and Petersweiher. Households on private property will be connected swiftly once the routes are complete.
TNG has proven its success in private expansions in Gießen and neighboring municipalities. The company plans to build a future-proof network, reaching every residential unit privately.
The cooperation between TNG and Gießen is a strong sign for the city's digital future. With this expansion, Gießen is taking a decisive step towards comprehensive, high-speed internet access, benefiting both citizens and the local economy.
