Gesund.de narrows the gap with Shop Apotheke after record prescription sales growth
Gesund.de closed 2025 with robust salesforce performance in prescription sales, trailing Shop Apotheke. The company surpassed its annual revenue target, reaching over €417 million in external prescription (Rx) sales. Meanwhile, Shop Apotheke maintained the lead with €503 million for the full year.
Gesund.de's growth accelerated throughout 2025, consistently outpacing Shop Apotheke in quarterly gains—except in the final three months. In Q4, the company's Rx revenue climbed to €121 million, up from €113 million in the previous quarter. This surge narrowed the gap, with Gesund.de reaching 78% of Shop Apotheke's Q4 sales, compared to just over a third in Q3 2024.
Dr. Peter Schreiner, CEO of Gesund.de, attributed the rise to an influx of new users and more repeat orders from existing customers. The company's push to support local pharmacies also gained traction. A December survey by aposcope revealed that half of 355 pharmacy professionals—including pharmacists, technicians, and assistants—reported using Gesund.de for processing orders. Maximilian Achenbach, Managing Director of Gesund.de, emphasized the firm's mission to bolster brick-and-mortar pharmacies against foreign online competitors. By positioning itself as a key digital partner, the company aims to drive innovation in local healthcare services.
Gesund.de finished the year with a 21% revenue gap behind Shop Apotheke, despite its rapid growth. The company's focus on digital tools for local pharmacies and rising customer loyalty has cemented its market presence. With external Rx sales surpassing €417 million, it remains a strong contender in Germany's online pharmacy sector.
