So many people benefit from the higher minimum wage - Germany’s minimum wage climbs to €13.90—another rise looms in 2027

Germany’s minimum wage has risen to €13.90 per hour since January 2026. Another rise is already planned for early 2027, when it will reach €14.60. The change will affect hundreds of thousands of workers across the country, particularly in Baden-Württemberg.

The latest increase took effect on 1 January 2026, lifting the hourly rate from its previous level. This adjustment directly impacts around 610,000 employees in Baden-Württemberg alone. Their total earnings are now expected to grow by roughly 6 percent as a result.

A further rise to €14.60 is scheduled for 2027. In Baden-Württemberg, up to 885,000 jobs could be affected by this next step. Workers in these roles may see their combined earnings rise by another 4 percent, adding around €35 million to pay packets. For employers, the changes bring higher costs. The 2027 increase will add approximately €31 million to labour expenses in the region. Businesses will need to adjust budgets to accommodate the new wage levels.

The minimum wage now stands at €13.90 per hour, with another rise due in 2027. Workers in Baden-Württemberg will benefit from higher earnings, while employers face growing payroll costs. The adjustments will reshape wage structures for nearly 900,000 jobs in the region.
