Germany's Davis Cup campaign begins with BYD-backed transport in Düsseldorf
The German Davis Cup team, led by captain Michael Kohlmann, will kick off their 2026 campaign at Düsseldorf's Castello next month. The team faces Peru in a home tie on February 3 and 6, marking the start of their journey towards the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna later this year.
To support the tournament, local automotive group Autohaus Ulmen has partnered with BYD. Together, they will supply electric and hybrid vehicles for players, officials, and VIPs throughout the competition.
The Castello in Düsseldorf has been chosen as the venue for Germany's opening Davis Cup clash. The team, under Kohlmann's leadership, will take on Peru in a two-day tie scheduled for early February. A strong performance could set the tone for their push towards the Finals in Italy.
For transport during the event, Autohaus Ulmen—a long-standing automotive retailer in the Rhineland—will provide the official fleet. The family-run business, with over 100 years of history and annual revenue near €100 million, has been a BYD sales partner since 2025. Their Düsseldorf and Ratingen locations will supply the electric and hybrid models needed for shuttles and VIP transport.
Klaus Gutberlet, managing director of Autohaus Ulmen, called the partnership a natural match for the company. The German Tennis Federation (DTB) also welcomed the collaboration, highlighting its role in ensuring smooth logistics for the tie. Beyond BYD, the group sells brands like Opel, Peugeot, and Citroën, reinforcing its position as a key player in the region's car market.
The Davis Cup tie in Düsseldorf will see Germany's team compete on home soil with full logistical backing. Autohaus Ulmen and BYD's vehicle fleet will support players and officials throughout the event. If successful, the team will advance closer to the Finals in Bologna later in the year.
