Germany to ban 13 harmful vape ingredients in new crackdown
The German government is set to ban 13 specific ingredients and cooling agents in vaping devices. The move comes as part of a broader effort to restrict harmful substances in vaping products beyond just nicotine. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture has drafted an amendment to the Tobacco Products Ordinance. This proposal targets certain flavours and cooling agents found in e-cigarette aerosols. Ministry spokespeople confirmed the plans, citing scientific assessments from the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment. The ban focuses on substances deemed harmful when inhaled. While nicotine has long been regulated, this update expands restrictions to cover additional chemicals in vaping liquids. If approved, the amendment will tighten controls on e-cigarette ingredients in Germany. The ban aims to reduce health risks linked to vaping by removing specific additives from the market. Officials have not yet announced a timeline for implementation.
