Germany and Israel Forge Historic Cyber and Security Alliance for 2026
Germany and Israel have signed a new cyber and security pact to strengthen cooperation against rising threats. The agreement covers areas like cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and drone defence. It also marks the first time German soldiers will be stationed in Israel for joint air-defence missions starting in March 2026.
The deal was finalised with a declaration reaffirming Germany’s commitment to Israel’s security. Both nations will now work more closely, sharing expertise and technology to improve protection. Security authorities from each country will collaborate on cyber threats, AI advancements, and counter-drone systems.
Germany also plans to take a leading role in the US-led Office of the Security Coordinator (OSC) for the first time. This office oversees security efforts between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Berlin has already been supporting Palestinian police forces to help stabilise the region and reduce risks to Israel.
The expanded military cooperation will see German troops deployed in Israel by early 2026. Their role will include participating in air-defence operations within Israeli airspace. Officials say the move reflects Germany’s broader strategy to deepen security ties with Israel amid growing global challenges.
The pact solidifies Germany’s position as a key security partner for Israel. German soldiers will begin air-defence missions in Israel by March 2026, while joint efforts in cybersecurity and AI continue. The agreement also reinforces Germany’s involvement in regional stability through the OSC and Palestinian police training.
