Georgia's IT Boom Hits $1.15B in 2025 as Foreign Talent Flocks In
Georgia's IT sector has seen rapid growth in 2025, with external revenue hitting $1.15 billion. This marks a 67% jump from the previous year, far outpacing the national average. The surge comes as more professionals relocate to the country from neighbouring regions. The information and communication sector expanded by 28.7% in 2025. This growth added roughly $459 million in extra revenue compared to 2024. A key factor behind the rise was an influx of IT workers from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.
Employment in the sector also climbed sharply. The number of people working in information and communications rose from 30,600 in 2021 to 54,500 by 2025. Alongside job growth, wages increased too. By the last quarter of 2025, the average monthly salary in the sector reached GEL 4,433. The sector's export-focused goods and services drove much of the revenue. While exact details on major employers or specific products remain unclear, the $1.15 billion in foreign trade earnings highlights its expanding role in Georgia's economy.
The IT sector now stands as one of Georgia's fastest-growing industries. With rising employment, higher wages, and surging revenue, its impact on the economy is becoming more pronounced. The trend suggests continued expansion as more professionals choose Georgia as a base for work.
