Gen Z fuels vinyl’s explosive revival—Taylor Swift leads the charge

Vinyl records are making a strong comeback, with sales rising steadily over the past five years. The trend is driven largely by Gen Z, who see records as both collectibles and home decor. Taylor Swift’s albums have dominated the market, securing five spots in the US top 10 best-selling vinyl albums of 2024 alone.

The vinyl revival shows no signs of slowing. Sales have grown by an average of 18% each year, with Gen Z leading the charge. Many in this group—56%—appreciate vinyl for its visual appeal, while 37% use it purely as decoration.

The vinyl resurgence continues to grow, shaped by Gen Z’s love for aesthetics and collectibles. Taylor Swift’s albums remain top sellers, while limited editions and second-hand finds keep the market dynamic. With sustainability and personal expression driving purchases, records are now as much about style as they are about sound.
