Gas Leak in Offenburg: No Injuries After Mulching Machine Damages Line

A gas leak incident occurred during maintenance work in Offenburg, Germany. The leak, caused by a mulching machine damaging a gas line, led to the closure of two streets and the evacuation of nearby buildings. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident happened on Am Unteren Mühlbach street, involving a mulching machine during routine maintenance. The machine accidentally damaged an above-ground house connection line, resulting in a gas leak. The fire department swiftly responded with a large contingent, cordoning off the affected area. They remained on site for over two hours, deploying 12 vehicles and nearly 40 personnel.

Extensive ventilation measures were taken, including natural and mechanical methods, to clear the air. Breathing apparatus teams checked the premises for safety. The gas supplier was quickly notified and successfully located and shut off the relevant valve, stopping the gas supply.

The gas leak in Offenburg was successfully contained and resolved without any reported injuries. The fire department's prompt response and thorough measures ensured the safety of the public. The affected streets and buildings have since been reopened.
