GameStop, Coca-Cola and Disney Dominated 2025 Stock Market Searches—Here's Why

GameStop, Coca-Cola, Disney and SoFi Technologies topped stock market searches across the US last year. Each company drew attention for different reasons—from meme stock hype to long-term dividend reliability. The trends reflect a mix of retail investor enthusiasm, brand loyalty and market speculation.

GameStop became the most searched stock market in six states: Colorado, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Vermont and Wisconsin. Its popularity stems from the 2021 short squeeze, renewed interest in 2024 from Reddit's 'Roaring Kitty' (Keith Gill), and ongoing attention from investors like Michael Burry. The company's volatile share price, swinging between $10 and $35 since 2022, has kept it in the spotlight amid declining physical retail and a surge in online trading.

Coca-Cola, meanwhile, led searches in Alabama, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Oklahoma and South Carolina. The beverage giant has long been a favourite of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, with a stake dating back to 1988. Its stock is up around 14% over the past year and 13% year-to-date, supported by a 63-year streak of annual dividend increases.

Disney attracted the most searches in Connecticut, Kentucky, Louisiana and West Virginia. After a tough year, its stock is now seen as undervalued, with potential for a rebound. SoFi Technologies, despite a 70% gain in 2025, has fallen 30% year-to-date but still topped searches in Montana, Texas and Utah.

The search trends highlight contrasting investor interests—from speculative bets on GameStop to steady dividends from Coca-Cola. Disney's potential turnaround and SoFi's volatility also reflect broader market shifts. Each stock's popularity points to different strategies driving retail investment decisions.
