Ford Pro's Transit City EV van targets zero-emission urban deliveries by 2026
Ford Pro has unveiled the Transit City, a new battery-electric van built for zero-emission urban deliveries. Designed specifically for European cities, the vehicle offers three body styles and a range suited to daily commercial use. Development came from Jiangling Motors, Ford's Chinese partner, rather than adapting an existing model like the e-Transit Custom. The Transit City will launch in three versions: the L1Hi, the L2H2, and a cab-only platform. Both van variants can fit three standard Euro pallets with the rear doors shut. The smaller L1Hi measures 4.99 metres long, holds 6 cubic metres of cargo, and carries up to 1,085 kg. The larger L2H2 stretches to 5.29 metres, offers 8.5 cubic metres of space, and supports a payload of 1,275 kg.
Power comes from a 56 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 254 km of range—more than double the average daily distance of 110 km. Charging options include an 11 kW AC unit, which fills the battery from 10 to 100 percent in 5.2 hours. A 67 kW DC charger can reach 80 percent in around 30 minutes or add 50 km of range in just 10 minutes. Production begins in summer 2026, with the first deliveries expected by the end of that year. No market launch has taken place yet, so the van's effect on demand for electric delivery vehicles in European cities remains to be seen.
The Transit City expands Ford's electric commercial lineup, offering a purpose-built option for city logistics. Its range, charging speeds, and cargo flexibility aim to meet the needs of businesses operating in zero-emission zones. Full availability will arrive once production starts in mid-2026.
