FKS Raids Cologne Restaurants: 3 Illegal Workers Found

Over 100 inspectors from the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit (FKS) of the Main Customs Office Cologne recently conducted a nationwide focus check on 38 gastronomy businesses, leading to the discovery of several cases of illegal employment.

The inspections, which targeted 187 employees, revealed that a 23-year-old Brazilian woman and a 28-year-old Indian man were working illegally in Cologne restaurants. Both are now facing investigative proceedings.

In a separate incident, a 45-year-old Vietnamese man was found working illegally in a restaurant in Erftstadt. The investigation against his employer is ongoing, with the competent foreign authority set to decide on further residence-related measures.

The search also uncovered information about a 31-year-old Vietnamese man involved in illegal work and stay, though it's unclear if this relates to the 45-year-old man found in Erftstadt or if the incident occurred in Cologne.

The nationwide focus check by the Main Customs Office Cologne has highlighted several cases of illegal employment in the gastronomy sector. The investigation into these cases is ongoing, with the competent authorities working to ensure compliance with social security registration and minimum wage laws.
