Federal Government Supports Festivals in Northeast Germany with Around 127,000 Euros - Five Rural Festivals in Germany Secure €127,000 in Federal Arts Funding
Five festivals in northeastern Germany will share around €127,000 in federal funding this year. The money comes from a nationwide programme supporting small and medium-sized cultural events. A total of €4 million will be spread across 134 festivals, with most located in rural areas.
The federal government's Festival Funding Program offers grants of up to €50,000 per event. Its goal is to boost local culture and encourage innovation in the arts. Around 70 percent of the funded festivals take place outside major cities.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, two festivals in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district will benefit: the 3000Grad Festival and the KM28 Forest Festival. Meanwhile, the Ludwigslust-Parchim district will see three events supported—Zwischentöne, Welzin Cultural Summer, and the Pura Vida Festival Retreat.
Frank Junge, an SPD member of the Bundestag, stressed the role of these festivals in enriching cultural life. He also noted their value in drawing visitors to the region.
The funding will help secure the future of smaller festivals in rural areas. Events like these serve as creative platforms and contribute to local economies. Organisers can now plan with greater financial certainty for the coming season.
