Finland’s glass fibre market surges 8.7% in 2024 on exports and production growth
Finland’s glass fibre fabrics market grew by 8.7% in 2024, reaching a total value of $54 million. The increase reflects stronger production, rising imports, and a surge in exports over the past year.
Domestic production of glass fibre fabrics expanded in 2024, contributing to the market’s overall growth. While exact figures remain undisclosed, the sector saw a noticeable rise compared to previous years.
Imports also climbed, with Denmark, Germany, and Poland supplying the majority of Finland’s glass fibre fabrics. The combined share of these three countries accounted for a significant portion of total imports. In value terms, the cost of imported fabrics rose sharply, though specific tonnage figures were not detailed.
Exports saw an even more dramatic increase. Shipments abroad jumped by a substantial percentage, reaching their highest recorded levels in 2024. Denmark emerged as the leading destination, absorbing a major share of Finland’s glass fibre fabric exports. Other key markets included Germany and Sweden, though detailed breakdowns of individual trade values remain limited to proprietary databases.
Despite the export boom, domestic consumption stayed relatively stable. The market value for glass fibre fabrics peaked at $56 million, showing little change from 2022 to 2024.
The Finnish glass fibre fabrics sector experienced strong growth in 2024, driven by higher production, increased imports, and record exports. While consumption remained steady, the market’s expansion highlights its growing role in both domestic and international finance.
