Feldschlösschen's 150th year marked by falling beer sales and pricing disputes

Feldschlösschen, Switzerland's long-standing brewer and beverage distributor, has reported a mixed financial performance for last year. The company, which marks its 150th anniversary in 2024, saw overall revenue fall by 3% despite growth in some areas.

The company's total sales dropped by 3% compared to the previous year. Beer sales alone fell by 5%, while the retail sector experienced an even sharper decline of 6%. These losses were partly offset by a 2% rise in the hospitality sector, where non-alcoholic beers, mineral water, and soft drinks performed well.

A major setback came in late 2023 when a pricing dispute led to a halt in deliveries to the Migros Group. This disruption hit sales hard in the final two months of the year. However, no detailed figures have been released on how individual Migros brands were affected during this period.

Feldschlösschen, part of the Carlsberg Group since 2000, operates across 22 Swiss locations and employs around 1,200 people. The brewery has been a fixture in the Swiss market for a century and a half, with this year marking a significant milestone in its history.

The company now faces the challenge of reversing its sales decline while maintaining growth in non-alcoholic and hospitality segments. The impact of the Migros dispute remains unclear, but the brewery continues to play a key role in Switzerland's beverage industry. With 150 years behind it, Feldschlösschen remains one of the country's most established names in brewing.
