Auto Expert Demands Cheaper Charging - Expert Warns: SPD's EV Incentives Miss Key Factor - Affordable Fast-Charging
Automotive expert Ferdinand Dudenhöffer has raised concerns about the Social Democratic Party's (SPD) proposed purchase incentives for electric cars. He believes that affordable test electricity is key to boosting e-mobility.
Dudenhöffer opposes the SPD's plan to subsidise electric car purchases for low-income buyers of affordable models. Instead, he suggests that test electricity should not cost more than one euro per kilowatt-hour. He argues that high test prices deter users and negatively impact demand.
Dudenhöffer does not see the expansion of charging stations as a major concern. He believes that affordable pricing is more important. In 2022, when wholesale electricity prices fell, few providers passed the savings on to electric vehicle charging customers, highlighting the need for regulation.
Ferdinand Dudenhöffer has called for action to make test electricity more affordable. He believes this is crucial for increasing the demand for electric vehicles. He has suggested that Klaus Müller, head of Germany’s Federal Network Agency, should discuss introducing a price cap for charging electricity.
