Europe's Billionaire Boom: Which Countries Are Leading the Surge by 2031?

The world’s billionaire population is growing rapidly. By 2026, their numbers had already climbed by 14%, reaching 3,110. Over the next five years, projections show an even sharper rise—26%—bringing the total to 3,915 by 2031.

Europe is no exception to this trend. The continent’s billionaire count is set to expand significantly, with some countries experiencing extraordinary growth rates. Europe’s billionaire numbers will jump from 780 in 2026 to 994 by 2031, marking a 27% increase. But the growth is far from even across the region.

Sweden stands out as the second-fastest-growing country in Europe, with its billionaire count expected to soar by 81%, from 32 to 58. Poland will see an even more dramatic rise—its billionaire numbers are set to more than double, jumping from 13 to 29, a 123% surge.

Denmark’s billionaire population will grow by 75%, rising from 12 to 21. Austria follows with a 50% increase, moving from 12 to 18. Norway’s billionaire count will also expand, climbing from 17 to 26, a 53% rise.

Italy and Spain will see steady but notable growth. Italy’s billionaire numbers will rise from 61 to 82, while Spain’s will increase by 40%, reaching 53 by 2031. By 2031, the global billionaire population will reach 3,915, up from 3,110 in 2026. Europe’s share will grow to 994, with countries like Poland and Sweden experiencing the fastest expansion. The data highlights a clear upward trend in ultra-high-net-worth individuals across both the continent and the world.
