Enhancing Commercial Relationships between ASEAN-Korea Centre in Laos and Thailand
ASEAN-Korea Centre's Trade Facilitation Mission Boosts Economic Ties in Laos and Thailand
The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) and the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) have organised a Trade Facilitation Mission, aimed at deepening ASEAN-Korea economic ties and promoting mutual growth. The mission, which took place in Vientiane, Laos from May 20-21, will also continue in Bangkok from May 22-23.
The event, which involves government officials and business leaders from Laos, Korea, and Thailand, focuses on enhancing economic cooperation and business partnerships among the participating countries. The mission aims to strengthen regional economic integration through business forums, one-on-one business matching sessions, and industrial visits.
During the mission in Vientiane, participants were given the opportunity to visit the Vientiane Logistics Park and That Luang Lake Special Economic Zone. On the second day, the mission continued with business forums, presentations, and industrial visits in Bangkok.
The Laos-Korea Business Forum, held on May 20, saw over 30 Lao businesses and 20 Korean companies engage in networking events. The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, Mr Jung Yung-soo, delivered congratulatory remarks at the forum.
Business Matching Sessions were held in the afternoon of the Trade Facilitation Mission, enabling participants to connect with potential partners and explore further collaboration. Presentations during the forum focused on trade and investment trends, government policies, and successful business cases.
CE Management Consulting, Inc., a Korean firm, shared a success story during the Trade Facilitation Mission in Vientiane, Laos. The mission also showcases advanced Korean technology and products, such as smart city technologies, ICT, shipbuilding, and other cutting-edge industries.
The purpose of the AKC's Trade Facilitation Mission is to build strong business networks, promote technology exchange, and encourage industrial collaboration between Korean firms and ASEAN partners in Laos and Thailand. This supports broader objectives of enhanced trade, investment, and economic integration in the region.
The sectors being explored for potential collaboration include food and beverage, industrial materials, and infrastructure. The mission continues in Bangkok, where similar programmes are expected to take place.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre's Trade Facilitation Mission highlights the organisation's continued efforts to deepen ASEAN-Korea economic ties and promote mutual growth. The Vientiane Times reported on various news topics, including South Korea and Vietnam leaders pledging closer ties, Thai-Cambodian border issues, and changes in market share for Resorts World Sentosa.
