Energy industry pioneer, Univers, plans to debut Malaysia's initial Net Zero Centre of Excellence.
In a significant move towards a sustainable future, Univers and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) have joined forces to create Malaysia's first Net Zero Centre of Excellence in Kuching, Sarawak. This strategic partnership aims to lead and accelerate the digital energy transition towards net zero emissions in the region.
With Univers' global expertise in AI for energy, the collaboration will establish a flagship centre that will act as a hub for innovation, research, and development in net zero technologies. The centre will focus on digital strategies, fostering a low-carbon economy by enabling digital and energy-efficient solutions, and catalyzing economic growth while addressing climate change at a regional and national scale.
The partnership will explore how digital tools can improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and drive operational excellence. This aligns with Sarawak's broader ambition to build a digitally driven and environmentally sustainable economy. As a wholly owned company of the Sarawak Government, SDEC is mandated to accelerate the digital adoption and lead technological innovation in Sarawak.
The Net Zero Centre of Excellence will serve as a hub for innovation, focusing on real-world projects that will drive the digital energy transition. The partnership will focus on advisory and enablement, R&D and Innovation, and Commercial Deployment.
