Encourage expansion of affordable fare options for the recently introduced rail link in Hong Kong.

East Kowloon link expansion features nine stations spanning from Choi Hung East to Yau Tong East, as per the most recent blueprint.

In an upcoming East Kowloon railway line project scheduled for completion by 2033, local representatives are pressing for more stations to cater to residents in nearby areas at affordable prices. Bill Tang Ka-piu, lawmaker and member of the Federation of Trade Unions, commented on Thursday that while the railway plan is fairly positive, there's still room for improvement.

Hong Kong authorities have provided additional details about the project, including the timeline and station locations, in a paper submitted to the Kwun Tong District Council earlier this week. The paper expects further debates in a meeting scheduled for next Monday [1].

Tang noticed a noticeable absence of stations in the stretch between Lam Tin North and Yau Tong East [2]. As of now, there are no confirmed decisions about adding stations to this section. The region encompassing Kwong Tin Estate, Hong Nga Court, and Hong Pak Court remains underserved in terms of railway access [1].

The need for more stations to adequately cover this gap has been raised, suggesting that future discussions may address whether new stations will be added to better serve these communities.
