EnBW accelerates electrification with 5,400 vehicles and 1,400 charging points

EnBW has expanded its fleet and charging infrastructure as part of a broader push toward electrification. The company now manages around 5,400 vehicles, up from 3,600 in 2015, driven by new services and renewable energy projects. Alongside this growth, it continues to invest in workplace and public charging solutions.

The energy supplier’s fleet has steadily increased over the past decade. New procurement strategies and the rise of decentralised work have played a key role. Today, the company operates two in-house workshops to maintain its specialty vehicles, ensuring fleet management remains efficient despite expansion.

EnBW’s electrification efforts include workplace charging, home solutions with billing integration, and the EnBW Mobility card for public use. Each year, around two million euros are allocated to expand its internal AC charging network. Currently, about 1,400 charging points are available at 135 company locations, supporting a range of electric cars.

Close collaboration between mobility managers Norman Scheck and Vanessa Hindinger ensures smooth deployment of battery-electric and plug-in hybrid cars. Their team works directly with fleet management to match vehicle needs at each site. Meanwhile, the company’s broader network includes over 8,000 public charging points across Germany, from highways to retail areas.

Two known EnBW sites—Herleshausen in Hesse and Großburgwedel in Niedersachsen—host NIO Power Swap Stations. However, no full list of cities with EnBW charging infrastructure has been published.

The growth in EnBW’s fleet and charging infrastructure reflects its commitment to renewable energy and electric mobility. With ongoing investments and decentralised operations, the company continues to adapt its vehicle management and charging networks. The focus remains on supporting employees and expanding public access to charging solutions.
