Dubai to Add 1,000 EV Chargers in $5.5M Deal with South Korean Firm
A new partnership will bring 1,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers to Dubai over the next two years. South Korean manufacturer Chaevi has signed a deal with Emirates Electrical Engineering LLC to expand charging infrastructure in the city. The agreement marks a significant step in the UAE's growing EV market. Chaevi, a leading EV charger producer in South Korea, has already installed 10,000 chargers across its home country. The company also exports its technology to the US, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Now, it is preparing to launch an initial public offering (IPO) on South Korea's Kosdaq stock exchange.
The partnership with Emirates Electrical Engineering LLC, part of Al Rostamani Group, is valued at US$ 5.5 million. Al Rostamani Group holds the UAE's only private charge point operator (CPO) business licence, giving it a unique position in the market. Under the deal, Chaevi will supply chargers ranging from 11 kW to 100 kW in power.
These chargers will be installed in key buildings across Dubai. The move aims to support the city's push for wider EV adoption and more sustainable transport options. The installation of 1,000 new chargers will expand Dubai's EV infrastructure significantly. With Chaevi's technology and Emirates Electrical Engineering's local expertise, the project is set to roll out over the next two years. The deal also strengthens Chaevi's global presence as it prepares for its stock market debut.
