Downtown Marion earns Main Street America affiliate status for 2026
Downtown Marion, Inc. has earned affiliate status in the Main Street America program for 2026. This recognition follows a year of strong growth, including over $6.2 million in local investment and the opening of seven new businesses. The achievement places the organisation among 453 affiliates nationwide. The affiliate designation came after Downtown Marion, Inc. met standards in six key areas. These included economic vitality, organisation, promotion, design, and community engagement. Main Street America offers two levels of national recognition: accredited and affiliate.
In 2025, the district saw significant progress. Volunteers donated 1,359 hours—worth over $44,000—while social media outreach exceeded 5.8 million impressions. The area also maintained 195 occupied residential units and hosted 22 events, drawing more than 24,000 attendees.
Downtown Marion, Inc. is part of a wider network of over 1,600 communities across the US. Together, Main Street America programs generated $9.4 billion in local reinvestment last year. They also created 36,549 net new jobs, reinforcing the program’s role in economic revitalisation. The 2026 affiliate status highlights Downtown Marion’s ongoing efforts in local development. With continued investment and community involvement, the district remains a key part of Main Street America’s national network. The program’s support will help sustain future growth and job creation in the area.
