Diverse Outcomes Reported by Securities Firms in Q2
Vietnamese Securities Firms Show Diverging Earnings Performance in Q2 2025
The earnings reports of major Vietnamese securities companies in Q2 2025 have revealed a clear divergence in performance. While some companies posted strong profit growth, others experienced varied results.
In the midst of this, Techcom Securities (TCBS) and SSI Securities Corporation emerged as standout performers.
According to the available data, TCBS recorded an after-tax profit of VND1.42 trillion (~$54.33 million) in Q2 2025, marking a 9.48% year-on-year increase. This growth was driven by a surge in brokerage revenue (+28.83%), margin lending (+32.43%), and gains from fair value through profit or loss (FVTPL) assets (+20.6%).
SSI Securities Corporation, on the other hand, reported Q2 revenue of VND2.91 trillion (~$111.35 million), up 29.6% compared to the same period last year. The company's net profit for Q2 stood at VND922.5 billion (~$35.3 million), representing a 10.43% year-on-year increase. The significant growth in SSI's earnings was primarily due to a 62% increase in interest income from lending and receivables.
VIX Securities, FPTS, HSC, and Vietcap Securities did not release their Q2 earnings data in the sources available, suggesting either lower public visibility or delayed reporting.
Techcom Securities' Q2 2025 after-tax profit was its highest quarterly figure to date, representing a 32% increase from the previous quarter and an 8% year-on-year growth. SSI's after-tax profit for Q2 was the highest in the past 14 quarters, standing at VND923 billion.
LPBank Securities also reported impressive growth, with Q2 revenue and net profit 16 and 15 times higher than the same period last year, respectively.
However, not all companies fared as well. FPT Securities' Q2 operating revenue dropped 21.6% and net profit plunged 62% due to mark-to-market adjustments. Vietcap Securities' Q2 revenue was its highest since Q2/2022, but pre-tax profit fell sharply by nearly 39%.
The overall Vietnam stock market showed a strong recovery momentum in Q2 2025, with the VN-Index rising substantially after a dip in April, which likely supported securities firms' business operations.
