Disruptions in train traffic to and from the popular German island of Sylt have been causing inconvenience for commuters since the early hours of this morning. The malfunction, which occurred between Niebüll and Westerland, specifically at Lehnshallig, has affected both regular trains and auto-trains, leading to a halt in services between 5.45 AM and 9.30 AM.
The issue was first reported early this morning, causing significant disruptions to the morning commute. Despite the initial setback, train services were resumed under restrictions after the morning chaos.
Technical employees from DB Netz AG, the infrastructure manager of Germany's railways, are currently working on repairing the defective signal. The repair project is scheduled to be completed by September 20, 2025.
