DHL Hikes Rates on Specific Parcel Deliveries

Crack open your wallets, folks! DHL, the global logistics giant, has announced a round of price increases for international parcel shipping and some domestic services, effective from July 1, 2025. Buckle up as we break down what you can expect!

The hike in costs stems from escalating operational expenses, including labor, transport, and delivery costs, according to DHL's headquarters in Bonn, Germany. For parcel weight up to 2 kg, those who ship within EU countries online will pay €6.99, a 50-cent increase from the current rate. Meanwhile, a 5-kg parcel franked at a branch will cost €20.49, a €1 increase.

For those who prefer to buy parcel stamps online in advance, a 5-kg parcel within the EU will set you back €17.49, an additional €1 compared to the current online rate. As for select shipment types to destinations outside the EU, prices will climb, while others will hold steady. Notably, the price increase for shipments to Russia was significant.

It's worth noting that within Germany, most DHL parcel shipping rates remain flat, with only the PlusPak (which includes packaging) and roll shipments nudging up in cost: the PlusPak now costs €8.19 (up €1.20) and the roll shipping will set you back €3.99 (double the previous price).

Although DHL has focused more on international adjustments, it's reasonable to speculate that EU prices may either remain stable or be tweaked based on country zones. The logistics company is also set to launch new services for private customers, like the "Mobile Parcel Stamp" for simpler non-EU parcel shipping, while insurance coverage for international parcels up to €50 will be axed.

In addition, DHL has bigger plans for businesses, implementing a monthly fee while reducing parcel prices for higher volumes, starting July 2025. This strategy change doesn't solely target private customers but aims to streamline costs for businesses as well.

Stay tune for more updates from your friendly neighborhood global courier service—cheers to stretching our budgets just a tad more!
