Data & Tech to Transform Workplaces: Panel Discusses Policy Needs

On November 20, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (EST), the Center for Data Innovation at ITIF will host a panel discussion titled 'How data and technology can make work environments safer, healthier, and more productive, and which policies are necessary to promote adoption and protect workers'. Speakers include Ashis Banerjee, Eli Clemens (moderator), and Tom West. Klaus Effing from KGSt is also expected to participate.

The event aims to explore the potential of data-rich technologies, such as wearable health monitors and automated tracking systems, in transforming workplaces across various industries. These innovations can protect workers from injury, reduce fatigue, and enhance overall productivity and experience. However, U.S. policies at both federal and state levels have been slow to promote the adoption of these technologies, sometimes even hindering progress.

The panel will discuss the need for a balanced policy approach that encourages adoption while safeguarding workers' rights. It will also address the focus on surveillance risks in current discussions, which may be slowing adoption and preventing workers from reaping the benefits of these technologies.

The panel discussion on November 20, 2025, seeks to foster a productive dialogue on leveraging data and technology to create safer, healthier, and more productive workplaces. It will bring together experts to explore the necessary policies to promote adoption while protecting workers' interests.
