CVD Equipment Sells Stainless Design Concepts to Atlas Copco for $16.9M

CVD Equipment Corporation has sold its Stainless Design Concepts (SDC) division to Atlas Copco Group for around $16.9 million in cash. The deal was finalised on April 2, 2026, in Central Islip, New York. SDC, known for producing ultra-high purity gas and chemical delivery systems, is now part of Atlas Copco's operations.

The transaction closed with a total cash payment of approximately $16.9 million. However, $900,000 of this amount will remain in escrow to cover any post-closing adjustments or indemnification claims.

CVD will keep ownership of its Saugerties, New York facility. Under the agreement, the company will lease the site to Atlas Copco for an initial period of two years. After accounting for expenses and taxes, CVD expects to receive net cash proceeds of roughly $15.0 million. The company plans to use these funds to improve financial flexibility and support future strategic projects.

The sale marks a shift for SDC, which now operates under Atlas Copco. CVD retains control of its Saugerties facility while securing a lease arrangement with the buyer. The proceeds will provide the company with additional resources for its ongoing business plans.
